DWCU President, Dr. Henry Feriadi dispatched nine students to participate in Global Education Experiences (GlobEEs) on Monday, April 2, 2018. The Vice President for Student, Alumni Affairs, and Career Development, Joko Purwadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., and the Head of English Education Department, Paulus Widiatmoko, M.A., were also present in this occasion.
This year, GlobEEs will be held at Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU), Taiwan from April 8 - 21, 2018. The participants from DWCU are Gloria Andida Cahya (Architecture, 2014), Yuliana Wijaya (Product Design, 2014), Marcella Steffi (Architecture, 2015), Cyntia Ayu Permata (Architecture, 2014), Christian Adi Wibisono (Architecture, 2015), Rachel Angella Pelle (Accounting, 2014) , Dorti Lusianan Tampubolon (Management, 2014), Ester Yuan Rahayu (Biology, 2014), and Lifia Alex Sandra (English Education, 2016). Led by the Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Arida Susyetina, S.S., M.A., and OIA staff Dianti Resti Risanti, S.T., the DWCU team will leave for Taiwan on April 2, 2018.
GlobEEs is a joint program between CJCU, DWCU, and Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW), aims to provide international experience for students both in academic and cultural settings. In this program, participants can interact with other participants from different countries. The theme of 2018 GlobEEs is “Social Responsibility and Culture”. The participants will not only learn about culture from different countries, but they also learn about global issues such as environment, social business, and new green energy. This program consists of many activities both indoor and outdoor, i.e. lectures and workshops, International Day, community service activities at junior high school, visit to local farm, Taiwanese cuisine DIY, painting and calligraphy, as well as exploring Tainan city. At the end of the program, the participants have to choose one theme and deliver the final presentation. DWCU students are divided into two groups and will talk about “Eco-Environment” and “Social Business”.
Dr. Feriadi expressed his hope for the selected students to become the university representatives who can promote DWCU to other participants so they will be interested to come to DWCU. “This program is one of our efforts to expand our international partnership network with other universities, especially in Asia region. I hope this will be an invaluable experience for Indonesian students as well as Taiwanese students,“ he added.
